On Decision Making

There are so many ways to make decisions. Our analytical friends love decision trees and pro/con lists. Some of us love gathering opinions from people they respect.⁣

I want to remind you that there’s no wrong decision. Every decision you’ve made until now, even if it doesn’t feel like the right decision, even if it feels like you made a mistake, is still the right decision. When we need to make a decision that feels like a mistake later on it’s usually because we had a lesson we still needed to learn. ⁣

Sometimes that lesson is from whatever the decision was. ⁣

Sometimes the lesson is to learn to better listen to and trust our intuition.⁣

We have the answers inside of us. We have all the information we need. We just don’t always listen to it or trust it. ⁣

But what if we started to truly let our inner compass guide us? What if we let our intuition lead the way? What if we only made decisions based on what truly felt right for us? ⁣

Step 1. Find stillness⁣

Meditate. Take a walk through nature. Brew a cup of tea and stare out your window. Do whatever you can to quiet down your mind (ego).⁣

Step 2. Have a conversation with your intuition/higher self⁣

After you have quieted the mind, politely, but directly, ask your ego to step down for a few moments. Invite your intuition, your higher self, to come forward. Ask your higher self, “what is the right decision”? Listen to what comes. ⁣

Step 3. Visualize ⁣

Imagine you’ve moved forward with the option in focus - the one your highest self has chosen. What does it feel like? What does a day in the life look like? How does it tangibly fulfill your purpose? What do moments of success look like? What does your ‘future self’ feel about it? Record any thoughts, feelings, emotions that come up afterwards.
